Too much waste!

The amount of waste generated by households increases year by year. They get to incinerators,    sorting and recycling as well as landfills. More and more waste is recycled or composted, and less goes to landfills.

            - Does it mean that it doesn't pose any threat to the environment?

            - Unfortunately, not necessarily.
-So how much waste do we produce?
            - In 2012, the amount of waste generated per person was 431 kg, but there is a falling tendency ⬇
-But our environment has a huge problem caused by plastic waste at our planet. If we don't start to act on a serious scale, in 2050 plastic will become the second "most important" element of the marine ecosystem after the water. So much plastic rubbish has hit the oceans that there are garbage islands of "plastic soup" huge as continents! 😰

-Where does plastic in the oceans come from?

         - In 2015 scientist from University of Georgia counted that yearly only to oceans goes more or less 10 mln tons plastic waste. In global scale 82% plastic waste in seas and oceans comes from Asia, only about 2% from Europe and USA and 16% from the rest parts of the world.
Plastic in oceans is mainly danger for all marine ecosystems. In the north part of Pacific Ocean, more or less between California and Hawaii there is a huge „island” made from over 3,5 mln tons of plastic waste.

-Then what we can do to help our planet?
-The best way is to start recycling in our household. Recycling is a process that involves reusing waste to produce a new product. The materials obtained in this way are used for the production of new products.Recycling is one of the best possible ways to protect the natural environment, because it reduces the growing amount of waste.

Below, a small drawer, to which containers should we throw individual types of waste:

-green - glass 💚
-blue - paper 💙
-yellow - plastic 💛
-red or orange - metals ❤️
-brown - biodegradable waste 🌰

Another problem is food waste.Did you know that yearly we waste 1/3 food resources that we produce? Most people can't buy as many food as they need.Very frequently we throw out from fridge products after due date, because we bought too much.

According to statisctic yearly one person waste 173kg food or 88 tons is wasted by all EU.

-Do you know what labels says?  🍟🍚🍩

1. When you can see text on your product "best before" it means that your product is still good to consumption but it may loose the quality.

2. When you can see text on your product "best by" it means that your product is not good to consumption.

-What we can do to reduce amount of food waste?

     -Make shopping lists. ✏️

-Read and understand the expiration dates on products.  🏷

-Store food according to the instructions on the packaging.  👀

-Put newly bought food deeper into the fridge. ☝🏻

     -Freeze food. 🍖

We have to remember about taking care of our planet, because all what we do now shows us if  in         nearest 50 years we will be able to safe our planet. If we won't start do it now future doesn't looks as colourfull as we wish it.
